Abstract: Ambulatory anaesthesia has undergone significant advancements over recent years, largely driven by technological innovations and refined techniques aimed at improving patient outcomes and procedural efficiency. This review explores current trends in ambulatory anaesthesia, focusing on the evolution of anaesthetic agents, minimally invasive procedures, and post-anaesthesia care advancements. The rise of ultra-short-acting an anaesthetic and the development of enhanced recovery pathways have contributed significantly to faster recovery times and reduced hospital stays. Furthermore, patient-centered strategies in ambulatory settings have fostered an increasing focus on personalized anaesthesia management. Emerging techniques, such as opioid-sparing strategies and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) for predictive modeling in anaesthesia, are transforming the field, offering potential for improved safety and efficacy. These innovations promise not only to optimize clinical practices but also to increase patient satisfaction by minimizing complications and improving overall care efficiency. The objective of this paper is to review and analyze the current trends in ambulatory anaesthesia while identifying the potential future directions for its continued evolution. Specifically, it highlights the latest advancements in anaesthetic drugs, regional anaesthesia techniques, and patient monitoring systems. The hypothesis explored is that emerging technologies, particularly in AI and individualized anaesthesia approaches, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of ambulatory anaesthesia. By understanding these trends and techniques, practitioners can better adapt to the evolving demands of modern surgical care, providing enhanced patient outcomes and safety.
