Pharmacokinetics of anaesthetic agents: A comparative research of anaesthesia practices in different healthcare systems

Author(s): Maria Gonzalez and Pierre Lefevre

Abstract: Anaesthesia practices and the pharmacokinetics of anaesthetic agents play a pivotal role in the success of surgical procedures. An understanding of how these agents are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and eliminated is crucial to optimize Anaesthesia administration. The pharmacokinetics of anaesthetic drugs vary significantly depending on the healthcare system, and this variability can affect clinical outcomes. This research aims to compare Anaesthesia practices and pharmacokinetic properties of anaesthetic agents across different healthcare systems, specifically focusing on regions with varying levels of resource availability and medical infrastructure. The analysis includes an assessment of the selection of anaesthetic agents, dosing strategies, monitoring methods, and outcomes, contrasting practices in high-income countries (HICs) versus low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It further explores the influence of healthcare system differences on the effectiveness and safety of anaesthetic interventions. Findings indicate that while HICs employ more advanced monitoring techniques and drug formulations, LMICs often rely on more standardized practices and older pharmacological agents. The research also identifies gaps in anaesthetic drug accessibility, the need for international collaboration, and the potential for future innovations in pharmacokinetics that could address these disparities. The results underscore the importance of adapting Anaesthesia practices to the specific needs and limitations of healthcare settings, ensuring safe and efficient Anaesthesia delivery for diverse patient populations. This comparative research provides critical insights into the relationship between pharmacokinetics and healthcare system resources, offering recommendations for future improvements in Anaesthesia practices worldwide.
